The Youthreach Mahon Young Social Innovators (YSI) group are 9 young people making a difference in our community. “Do you need somebody?” is our 2014 campaign.

We’re making a positive change in our community by setting up a peer support system for young people who are depressed or feeling suicidal. We’re getting blue wristbands to be worn by people who have experienced bereavement by suicide, or who understand suicidal thoughts and want to support their classmates and friends when they’re feeling down. If everyone knew they had someone to talk to, maybe there’d be a positive change.

We’ve made this film to help promote our idea, and we’ll be visiting local schools in March to start the Do You Need Somebody? programme in centres and schools other than our own.
