Appointment of External Members to the Audit and Finance Committees

The Board is required, under the provisions of Section 45 of the Education and Training Boards Act 2013, to appoint a Finance Committee and an Audit Committee.  Under the Code of Practice for the Governance of ETBs, the Board is required to appoint external members to these Committees.

The Board, at its July 2015 meeting appointed the following external members to its Audit and Finance Committees

 Audit Committee

1. Mr Tim Healy – Former Head of Finance, Cork City Council.

2. Mr Denis Kirby – who has extensive academic qualifications in the areas of Finance and Management. His career includes a variety of senior management positions across a range of businesses.  It also includes extensive management consultancy experience.  He is a former member of City of Cork VEC and its Audit Sub-Committee.

3. Dr Tom Rigney –who has extensive academic qualifications in the areas of Accountancy, Business and Education. His career includes Head of School of Business at Cork Institute of Technology.

The Board appointed Mr Tim Healy to be Chair of the Audit Committee.  Mr. Healy is a Chartered Accountant.  He retired recently as Head of Finance in Cork City Council, having held that post since 2001.  He has served as an external member of the Audit and Risk Committee of University of Limerick.

Finance Committee

Mr. Jamie O’Leary, B. Comm(Hons 2.1), Chartered Accountant.  He has over 20 years experience in senior management roles in a number of businesses.
